The Holiday Harp Competition 2023
Find your favourite piece of holiday, seasonal or Christmas music and get prepared to make a gorgeous video performance to win the viewers votes. There are just two prizes in this competition and our subscribers get to vote on their favourite two performances ... so do your best to WOW them!! Closing date 1 December 2023 |
This competition is for New Zealand harpists only.
Please read the following conditions of entry before submitting this form.
• All entries will be posted on the NZ Harp Performance You Tube Channel. If you do not wish to have your video online, please do not enter the competition. This is a PERFORMANCE competition – the PERFORMANCE aspect is really important!
• Please introduce yourself and your piece on the video. Make sure your voice can be clearly heard on the video - if not - do it again.
• Your performance is to be one piece only. To play an excerpt from a longer piece, or a medley is acceptable. It must be filmed in one take, with the audio (no over dubbing) otherwise it will not be eligible to be entered. The introduction of yourself can be in a separate take from your actual performance, but you need to edit it to make one file. Your audio and video cannot be submitted separately – it must be one file.
• There is no minimum length for the duration of the piece for this competition, but remember if you only give the listener 30 seconds of music to listen to, you’re not giving yourself much time to be ‘remembered’. Not longer than 5 minutes
• The entry fee is $20.
Entries close 8pm 1 December, 2023. No late entries will be accepted. Up to two prizes of $100 each can be awarded. This is a people’s choice competition – the performers, and the subscribers to Harps Aotearoa Foundation newsletter will vote on their favourite performances.

NZ Harp Performance Competition 2023
The closing date for the 2023 competition has been moved to 1 September to allow for our very busy first quarter (Harp Fest NZ 2023!).
In the meantime - have a look at past competitors and consider what the winners have that you could incorporate into your entry. Also - get plenty of practice at videoing yourself - it's not easy to get it right the first time on a video, so make sure you know where its best to put the camera, how to keep your music stand out of line of view and think about what might make a winning piece to perform! |

The NZ Harp Performance Competition was founded in 2015 following a generous grant given to Anna to 'develop something which benefitted the harp community'. The annual NZHPC has grown each year and since 2020 we have also held annual Holiday Harp Competitions which is judged with a people's choice vote. Both competitions are open to all NZ harpists and it's amazing to see how the young harpists develop, returning each year to have another go!
